Foundation of
the Center
As a result of the interest of the government of the Kingdom to create the
suitable climate and environment for building the correct productivity base, many high
quality industries were built. These industries were able to cover the needs of the local
markets and save extra productive energy which can be exported abroad and in need of
supporting programs to direct them to the foreign markets. As a result of this, the second
conference of the Saudi Businessmen advised the establishment of an organization for the
development of Saudi Exports.
The Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce
in its 14th assembly in 23rd of Safar 1406 H. (11th. Nov. 1985) agreed upon the
establishment of the Exports Development Centre. The Centre should function under the
guidance of the Council of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and gets financial support from of
the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Riyadh, Jeddah and Eastern region.
Objectives of
The Center :
The main goal of the Center of Saudi Exports Development lays in
activating the non- petroleum products and services and all factors that develop exports.
To achieve these goals the Center was given the following rights.
- To develop suggestions that assist the
government to plan the policy of exports, participate in studies of exports promotions and
cooperate with other bodies connected to the exports field to introduce suitable services
for the sector of exporters.
- To make researches and analysis for
measuring the Kingdom's export ability and prepare studies on the actual situation of the
foreign markets, their ability and the competing commodities with the Saudi
products.
- To build the suitable marketing plans
that achieve a good level of competition in the international markets for the goods and
services that the Kingdom has got proportional advantage and to participate in developing
the designs of national products to meet the needs of the markets to which they are
directed and also the packing and exhibiting to fit the tastes in those markets.
- To draw exporting plans for the exporting
establishments, companies and industries on their request. It also offers consultant
services in the area of international trade to local exporters and offer training for the
exporting sector in all areas related to exports.
- To be aware of internal and external
problems, obstacles and difficulties and to suggest the solutions in cooperation with
national or international, private or governmental establishments who can participate in
achieving this goal.
- Publication of periodicals, books and
brochures on topics related to export activity and making announcement for the Saudi
products. For Example:
- To send commercial delegations to foreign
markets and offer facilities and needed preparations to assist business-men in commercial
discussion and negotiations.
- To arrange and execute internal
exhibitions that announce for national products and services and to participate in
international exhibitions and to encourage exports participation in these
exhibitions.
- To announce in local and foreign
newspapers, magazines and periodicals.
- To arrange invitations to the imports
missions and the commercial representatives of different embassies in the Kingdom to visit
productive and marketing centers.
- To arrange local and international
marketing and exporting gathering and conferences.
- To participate in the
membership of committees between the Kingdom, the Arab, Islamic and friend countries to
offer consultancy for list of national goods and products available for export.
Fields of The Center
The main goal of the Saudi Exports Centre is to activate and develop
exports of non-petroleum products and services and all factors that develop these exports.
This should be achieved through:
- To develop suggestions that assist the
government to plan for exports of the Kingdom.
- To participate in studies related to
exports rules and promotions in relation to other countries experience to achieve lower
expenses for exporting activities.
- Marketing Data collection and treatment
and its distribution among the Saudi Exporting sector.
- Preparation of information and statistics
related to international trade in the targeted markets.
- To initiate exports' information centre
to furnish exporters with all needed information.
- To make an international trade point and
to be linked with the project of international trade points.
- To make a link between the information
centre and the banks and information center in other countries.
- To arrange and make internal and external
exhibitions to propagate national products and services. Also to participate in
international exhibitions, encourage and arrange the participation of exporters in these
exhibitions.
- To arrange propagatory missions
"exports' delegations" to the foreign markets, offer facilities and needed
preparations to the members of these delegations throughout the commercial
negations.
- Publication of periodicals, books and
issuances related to the subject of exports.
- To announce in local and foreign
newspapers, magazines, periodicals and issuances.
- To arrange invitations for export mission
to visit the Kingdom and also commercial representatives of the different embassies in the
Kingdom to visit production and marketing.
- To arrange export assemblies and
conferences abroad.
- To participate in assemblies and
conferences held by specialized parties abroad.
- To make suitable marketing plans to
achieve competition in the international markets for goods and services in which the kind
has proportional advantage.
- To do field researches and analysis for
measuring the abilities of exports of the Kingdom.
- To make studies on the actual situation
of the foreign markets and their ability and the goods competing with the Saudi products,
to make the importers aware of them.
- To make exports plans for establishments
and companies on their request or by self initiation.
- Participation in developing national
products designs to fit the needs of the targeted markets and also the packing and the
suitable exhibiting in those markets.
- To offer consultant services to the
exporters in the area of foreign trade.
- To make exporting sector in the Kingdom
aware of exporting chances available abroad.
- Coordination with
Official Bodies
- To be aware of internal and external
problems, difficulties and obstacles, studying them and suggesting solutions.
- To cooperate with national establishments
who can participate in executing programs that increase the size and value of exports.
- To cooperate with the services
organizations related to exports to maintain suitable services to the exporters.
- To participate in the membership of the
committees between the Kingdom and some Arab, Islamic and friendly countries to offer
technical consultations related to national producible goods and products.
- Qualifying
National Skills
- To arrange specialized training courses
for qualifying the national skills working in the area of exports.
- To arrange lectures,
symposiums and
workshops related to the subject of international trade.
- To assist the producing organizations in
small and medium companies to start their exports.
- To make the Saudi exporters aware of the
presence of finance and guarantee organizations on both regional and international
levels.
- To make use of programs introduced by
funds and finance organizations on regional and international levels for financing and
guaranteeing Saudi exports.
- Coordination with development funds and
commercial banks in the Kingdom to facilitate finance and important guarantees for Saudi
exports.
- Coordination with development funds and
finance organizations to be aware of the projects financed by them and to pass these
information to Saudi exporters.
- Development of cooperation levels with
international, regional, bilateral and local organizations to activate exports.
- To make foreign investors aware of
investment opportunities in projects directed to exports and to participate in marketing
studies for these projects and assist in the area of financial investment for the purpose
of exporting.
Membership of
the Centre:
Although the Center offers free services to all Saudi exporters but there
are some specialized extra services that need financial covering to be properly offered.
For that reason the Center opened his membership for companies and industries for the
purpose of making use of these extra services. Members should pay varying charges to
support the centre to achieve the goal of introducing the Saudi products in international
markets. These advantages are according to membership class which is classified as
follows:
- Distinctive Class membership.
- First class membership.
- Second class membership.
